Charities and Associations

These organisations provide various resources including education, advocacy, medical support, and social events, helping individuals with Down syndrome and their families across the UK.

Tea and Twenty-One, Laura Sharpe, entrepreneur and co-founder of Sharpe Recruitment and new venture Connect Conferences and Events, shares her personal journey.

Laura found love in her early 40s with John, an IT specialist. As their relationship blossomed, they began considering starting a family, mindful of the risks associated with older parenthood. This heartfelt story explores the challenges and joys faced by 47,000 families in the UK connected by Down syndrome, a naturally occurring genetic difference caused by an extra chromosome at position 21, known as Trisomy 21. Join Laura as she navigates this sometimes harrowing, yet deeply loving journey. With guests from across the DS Community, from other parents to charities and doctors -  Put the kettle on and tune in to ”Tea and Twenty-One.”
