Back in July, Niltoni Studios had the privilege of hosting an Art and Design Course for The King’s Trust. It ran for a full week and brought together an incredibly enthusiastic group of young people who were eager to dive into everything from drawing, painting and stencilling to digital design.

We kept things practical and hands-on. The students spent time sketching, experimenting with composition and colour, and even getting stuck into some vector art on iPads. It was amazing to see how quickly they picked up new techniques and how much excitement there was in the room each day.

Throughout the week, we had some fantastic guest speakers and teachers. Amelia Mitchell, our Set Designer from Niltoni Entertainment, shared her process and how design feeds into live performance. Craig Wilde, Creative Director at Niltoni Creative, spoke about branding and the business side of the arts. Armand Nadour, from Fern and Fossil Tattoo Studio, an incredibly talented tattoo artist, walked through his journey and how illustration translates into ink. And I (Filipe Ribeiro) had the pleasure of leading sessions on graphic design and digital workflows.

The best part was seeing how engaged everyone stayed. These young creatives asked smart questions, pushed themselves to try new things and left the course with real skills they can build on. It felt like exactly what a studio should be — a place where ideas are made real.
